500x more powerful than a standard AutoClipper

MegaClippers is a project in Universal Paperclips that appears after buying 75 AutoClippers.

Summary[]

Available after you have purchased 75 Autoclippers. This project unlocks MegaClippers, which produce 500 times more clips per second than a standard AutoClipper.

Cost[]

The cost of a new MegaClipper equals where A is the current amount of MegaClippers. If A equals 0 though, the cost equals 500 instead of 1000. The results are rounded down to a penny on the screen; it's not known whether this is purely cosmetic and the game actually keeps track of fractions of a cent, or if they are rounded down for real.

Strategy[]

When they first become available, Megaclippers produce far more paperclips per second per dollar than Autoclippers do. However, this becomes less true as you buy more Megaclippers and their cost skyrockets. Their cost-efficiency equalizes (in other words, the cost of a new Megaclipper becomes roughly 500x the cost of a new Autoclipper) at approximately 75 Autoclippers and 95 Megaclippers, not accounting for upgrades. After that, you should buy them in very roughly equal amounts if you want to keep scaling up your production of paperclips (again, not accounting for upgrades).

A fully upgraded (Improved AutoClippers + Even Better AutoClippers + Optimized AutoClippers + Hadwiger Clip Diagrams) Autoclipper produces 650% more than a normal Autoclipper, or 7.5 clips/second. A fully upgraded (Improved MegaClippers + Even Better MegaClippers + Optimized MegaClippers) Megaclipper produces 175% more than a normal Megaclipper, or 1375 clips/sec. If both are fully upgraded, then their cost-efficiency equalizes when a new Megaclipper costs (1375 ÷ 7.5) ≈ 183.333 times as much as a new Autoclipper. This ratio is achieved at 75 Autoclippers and ~81 Megaclippers ($239,930.79 ÷ $1,276.89 ≈ 187.9). After that, if you wish to keep scaling your production of paperclips, they should be bought in very roughly similar amounts, but favoring Megaclippers; for example, by the time you get 100 Megaclippers, you should have 89 Autoclippers ($867,716.32 ÷ $4,835.02 ≈ 179.5), an increase of +14 Autoclippers and +19 Megaclippers. If you get to 200 Megaclippers, you should have 160 Autoclippers by then.
